How to Have Movie Night at Home

Cocomels_02With our upcoming move to Austin Texas approaching, A and I have been trying our best to scrimp and save wherever we can. In case you haven’t heard, moving across the country (for the second time in two years) is really freaking expensive and as much as we love going out, we have been trying our best to stay in. So we have come up with a few ways to save, some are not so glamourous (i.e. bringing a flask to a bar and ordering ginger ale like an underage wild child) and some are a little snazzier, like having an at home movie night.

At home movie nights don’t have to be lame and they don’t have to be for just couples! A and I have been having a total blast cooking up different vegan popcorn recipes (Earth Balance is my everything) and drinking snazzy organic cane sugar sodas, but candy is always the trickiest part. The vast majority of candies I like contain tons of dairy, so being vegan means no Milk Duds, no Snickers, and the worst of them all, no Werther’s caramels. At least, those were my feelings until I tried Cocomels.

Cocomels astounded me with their deliciousness and not to mention, they come in a variety of flavors including, but not limited to: sea salt, espresso and vanilla. They also sell chocolate dipped caramels which is almost too much delicious to handle. We like to pack all of our candy, soda and popcorn madness into a box (just like in the theatre!) and share it while we snuggle on the couch! That is the real benefit of staying in instead of heading to the theatre, snuggles and fluffy pillows.

What is your favorite candy for movie night at home?

*I received free samples from Cocomels. All opinions are and will always be my own.*

Oh my gosh, moving is so expensive, and not to mention stressful. My heart totally goes out to you! I have been trying to save a bit more recently so I really enjoyed reading this post. Even when you aren’t saving, sometimes a night in is exactly want.

I love at home movie nights! Though, it usually takes about 30+ minutes of scrolling through Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime before agreeing on what we’re watching!
